Staying Close to Home is Important for Daniel Oturu
What a weekend Daniel Oturu had for Howard Pulley?

The 2018 PF showed not only Minnesota but the world he’s an athletic machine. Catching alley-oops, shooting threes, and more, Oturu may become one of the highly-recruited frontcourt players of his class.

We caught up with the Howard Pulley PF, and asked a few questions about his game and his future.

FloHoops: What’s your official height?
Daniel Oturu: I would say 6’9”

What do the doctors say what your final height will be?
They say 6’10, 6’11

Do you see yourself as a PF or Center?
Power Forward

What do you feel about the season so far? You’re undefeated.
It feels great. Everyone is working hard. We all have the same goals. We’re trying to get better every game.

Where you specifically looking to get better? You shot (made) a three your last game.
My perimeter game. Handling the ball better and shooting the jumpshot with confidence.

You go to Cretin-Derham Hall, tell us more about the program there?
The coaches great, the staff is great, it’s a fun atmosphere. It has a great community feel. Everyone has goals and we help each other achieve them.

Athletes such as Joe Mauer have come out of Cretin. Do they ever come back and are you aware of the athletic legacy of Cretin?
All the athletes know about the legacy of CDH. Some of them come back all the time. I’ve seen Michael Floyd and Joe Mauer around campus. They like to come back and interact with the current students.

Where have you received college offers from?
I haven’t received any offers but I have a lot of schools interested.

What schools have expressed interests?
University of Minnesota, Iowa, Texas, Michigan State, and Providence so far.

Would it mean a lot for you to stay home?
It means a lot to me and my family to stay home and play for the University of Minnesota.

What’s important to you, that these schools are offering?
The most important thing for me is to get a degree and get an education. I’ll be there for four years, do the best I can and graduate with a degree.
