Nike EYBL Peachology: The First Impressions
The exclusive Peach Jam predictions after Nike EYBL Session I at Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, VA.
HAMPTON, VA -- A projection is only as good as what a team has done lately. So when breaking down Nike EYBL Session I, it's hard not to favor the squads that racked up wins, whether their success was surprising or not.
Throughout this past weekend at Boo Williams Sportsplex, the prep hoops world certainly saw more shocking records than predictable bodies of work. It's what makes this first set of games great and what sets the stage for the season to come.
Ask anyone familiar with the circuit which five teams would most likely go undefeated in the initial session, and chances are not a single person would have gotten this correct. Host Boo Williams (VA), reigning Peach Jam champions MOKAN Elite (KS), Peach Jam runners-up PSA Cardinals (NY), MeanStreets (IL), and The City Rocks (NY) all had a perfect 4-0 record in Session I.
Another historic program looks to be back to its winning ways. Led by Cole Swiders and his 28.7 points per game, BABC (MA) battled to get to 3-1 during the first weekend. There were 13 other squads that posted that mark, though, so don't sleep on them making a run either.
THE UNKNOWN
Despite putting up some big-time numbers, 2018 Flo40 No. 1 Marvin Bagley III and Nike Phamily (AZ) were one of eight squads winless in the first session. Also, 2019 Flo40 No. 1 RJ Barrett didn't play for UPlay Canda and now sees his team on the outside looking in, too.
THE PEACHOLOGY
Taking into account the record and schedule, here is what FloHoops thinks the seedings for Peach Jam stand after Session I:
