Chicago Sky are bringing two of the biggest names from NCAA Women's College basketball to the Windy City following their best draft class in franchise history. This team was set to build a great draft class this year regardless of who other teams may have selected in the WNBA Draft.

The Sky selected Kamilla Cardoso with the No.3 pick, a 6'7 center from South Carolina who proved to be the most dominant center this past season in college hoops. If the LA Sparks had selected Cardoso at No.2, the Chicago Sky would have drafted Cameron Brink to fill their paint protection needs.

What may come even more shocking is the Sky selecting another big in the WNBA Draft lottery by taking 6'3 Angel Reese at No.7. There may be questions as to why exactly Reese slipped to No.7 in this years draft, nonetheless, she is NCAA National Champion and was  one of the fiercest competitors in women's college hoops.

Here's a preview of the Chicago Sky ahead of the 2024 WNBA Season.

WNBA  Preview 2024 :Chicago Sky With Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese

The Chicago Sky added two of the best inside players in College Women's Basketball following their selections of Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Both of these players have years of history playing against each other stemming from their AAU circuit days in High School. They will now be tasked with bringing their skills and winning program culture from their collegiate careers to Chicago this season.

Brynna Maxwell who was drafted No.13 overall by the Chicago Sky will aslo be coming in looking to improve the roster. Maxwell is coming from Gonzaga and is regarded as one of the best shooters in the nation. At Gonzaga she averaged 12.9 points while shooting 42.7% from three on 5.7 attempts across 154 collegiate appearances.

Last season the Chicago Sky finished at No.8 in the WNBA standings earning them the last seed in the WNBA Playoffs. The Sky lost in the first round to the Las Vegas Aces. With the additions from this year's draft the Sky hoping to get back into Championship form, as they still retain some of their roster from the 2021 Championship team.

The decision from the Chicago Sky front office to draft both bigs who are not dynamic scorers will be one to watch throughout the season. On draft night the Sky made moves to acquire the No.7 pick from Minnesota in exchange for the Sky’s No. 8 overall pick , Sika Koné, Chicago’s 2025 second round pick and the rights to swap Chicago’s 2026 first round pick.

Kardoso at 6'7 and Reese at 6'3 stand as the tallest players currently on the roster and will be expected to make an immediate impact. Final rosters will be decided prior to opening day which is scheduled for May 14, the Sky first regular season game is May 15 vs. the Dallas Wings.
