K-State Locks Down NC State To Open Paradise Jam

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — A big win during a beautiful afternoon on the island. It’s safe to say all is well for Kansas State on Thanksgiving Day and at the start of the 2016 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam.

It oftentimes was not the prettiest of games inside the University of the Virgin Islands gym, but hey, it happens, especially when K-State plays the kind of defense it did against North Carolina State on Thursday. The Wildcats locked down, forced the Wolfpack to 26 percent shooting, and opened the three-day round-robin tournament with a 67-50 win in the Island Division.

Kindred Wesemann led four K-State players in double figures with a game-high 17 points, while Kayla Goth added 12, Breanna Lewis scored 11, and Kaylee Page chipped in 10.

For N.C. State, Jennifer Mathurin scored 12, and Ashley Williams had 10.

But while this was only the beginning, the Wildcats and Wesemann were quite happy to open with a victory before getting ready to play LSU on Friday.
