Deandre Ayton's Game-Changing Talent Raises The Bar At Arizona

For anyone needing a reminder of how special Deandre Ayton is, just listen to the praise from within the Arizona program. The 7-footer hasn’t even played a game yet and is already making a lasting impression with his one-of-a-kind talent.

“I don’t think I will again,” head coach Sean Miller told AZDesertSwarm.com, noting he has never seen anyone like Ayton at his age. “It’s just because he’s so physically imposing. He’s a little over 7-feet tall. He’s now over 260 pounds. He’s as strong and as gifted running that I’ve worked with.”

With his combination of size, skill, and touch from the outside, Ayton finished his career at Hillcrest Prep (AZ) ranked No. 2 in the final 2017 Flo40 and was a Naismith Player of the Year finalist.

Ayton is a complete game-changing player, almost a surefire lock as a top pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, and if the Wildcats make it to the promised land, there is no doubt he will be a big reason why.

“He’s a beast,” Arizona sophomore guard Rawle Alkins added. “He’s a legit 7-footer, he can shoot from the outside. He’s a tough guy. I think he’s going to be a huge presence at the rim. He’s going to defend and block a lot of shots. That’s something we didn’t really have last year.”

Watching Ayton's freshman year will be something to remember for ages, and it all starts with a three-game tour in Spain live on FloHoops.
