March Madness 2024 Is Now. Here Are CAA Men's Basketball Players To Know

The CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament 2024 is scheduled for March 8-12 in Washington D.C. All 14 teams across the conference will be competing for a CAA Tournament Championship and a automatic bid to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The Coastal Athletic Association proves to be one of the top Division I mid-major conferences in the country and currently features three of the top 25 scorers in the nation. 

Hofstra’s Tyler Thomas is at the forefront of the group ranking third in the country averaging 22.4 points per game. 

With regular season play ending on March 2 teams will look to fight for their final positions in the CAA standings prior to the start of the CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Charleston (13-3 overall) remains at the No.1 seed while UNCW, Drexel and Hofstra are tied for No. 2 at 11-5.

College of Charleston won the CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament last year in 2023, in the championship game they defeated UNCW 63-58 with a comeback in the final minutes. Charleston will enter the 2024 CAA Tournament in search of their third title and another trip to the NCAA tournament. 

Here’s a look at some of the top players to know heading into the 2024 CAA Men’s Basketball tournament. 

CAA Men's Basketball Players To Watch

With the 2024 CAA Men's Tournament approaching, here's a breakdown of some of the best players in the CAA Conference. 

Tyler Thomas, Hofstra Basktball

Thomas is a fifth year senior at Hofstra averaging 22.4 ppg at the point guard position. His game has taken drastic leaps after averaging 16.5 ppg last season to now being ranked 3rd in the National scoring. Thomas also leads the NCAA in 3 point FGM with 108 this season. His high scoring output will play a key part in Hofstra's postseason run.

Landon Glasper, N.C A&T Basketball

Glasper is only a sophomore at N.C A&T this season and has taken a major role in leading this team to the top of the CAA rankings. Glasper is 11th in the nation in scoring averaging 21.3 ppg while shooting 35% from FG. This young guard who takes on a bulk of the Aggies scoring will be one to watch in this years CAA tournament. Last year, the Aggies lost in the first round to #10 seed Stony Brook.

Xander Rice, Monmouth Basketball

Rice is fifth year senior at Monmouth averaging 20.7 ppg ranking him 17th in the Nation. Rice is a seasoned guard who played four years at Bucknell where he finished with over 1000 points and led his team in scoring his senior year. Rice shoots an impressive 36% from 3-point FG and will be essential to Monmouth's CAA Tournament run, last year they lost in the second round to #5 seed Drexel.

When Is The 2024 CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament

The CAA men’s basketball regular season will conclude on Saturday, March 2 and set the seeding for the 2024 CAA Men's Basketball Championship. The tournament will begin with round one on Friday, March 8 and the championship game taking place on Tuesday, March 12.

When Does The 2024 NCAA Tournament Start?

The tournament will begin with Selection Sunday on March 17, followed by the First Four on March 19-20. 

After the opening round is complete, the field will be set with the top 64 teams and the first round will start on March 21-22.

What Is Selection Sunday?

Selection Sunday is the day the NCAA committee releases the full tournament bracket initial seeding of all 68 teams. 

Thirty-two teams will automatically qualify for the tournament by winning their conference tournament. 

That leaves 36 other teams fighting for an at-large bid from the selection committee, which is considered through multiple stats and rankings to determine who receives the at-large bid.
