The 2024 WNBA regular season begins on May 14, with preseason games set to start on May 3. Here's a look at the Connecticut Suns and No.10 pick Leila Lacan.
The Connecticut Suns were one of the top teams in the WNBA this past season, finishing third in the regular season standings. The Suns are looking to build upon their current roster with a additions including Leila Lacan who the Suns selected with the 10th pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Lacan was one just three overseas prospects to be drafted in the first round along with Nyadiew Puoch and Carla Leite.

WNBA Preview 2024: Connecticut Suns
The Connecticut Suns finished the 2023 WNBA season in the second round of the playoffs, being eliminated by the New York Liberty .In the year prior, the Suns were able to reach the WNBA Finals but came up short to the Las Vegas Aces.
After finishing their most recent regular season with a 27-13 record and maintaining the majority of their roster; The Suns are in a win now position and could find themselves competing for a WNBA Title this upcoming season.
The Suns selected Leïla Lacan, Taiyanna Jackson, Helena Pueyo and Abbey Hsu to complete their 2024 WNBA Draft class . Lacan who was the Suns only first round pick appears to have the biggest upside potential and could fill their guard needs right away.
Who Is Leila Lacan?
Lacan is a French native who has competed professionally with the Senior French National Team. The 5'11 Guard averaged 13.1 ppg, 2.6 rebounds and 3 assist in her 2023-24 season.
Jackson also could be a key piece as she develops her inside skills at 6'6. The Kansas Alum averaged 12.6 points and 10 rebounds in her final season with a plethora of accolades to showcase her talent as a Jayhawk. Drafting Jackson at No.19 overall is a great pick nonetheless with the size and raw potential she possess's.
The Suns have a deep roster of veteran leadership including Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner to not only help these incoming rookies transition, but also able to pick up the bulk of the Suns offensive production.
Final rosters will be decided prior to opening day which is scheduled for May 14, the Suns first regular season game is May 14 vs. the Indiana Fever.
