When Chance The Rapper contributed his own verses to the #SoGoneChallenge, some of the NBA's best lyricists stepped up to respond in kind with their own freestyle videos.
The #SoGoneChallenge, which asks people to rap their own bars over the instrumental version of Monica’s 2003 chart-topper, “So Gone,” went viral after Chance spit fire over the track two weeks ago. Since then, civilians and celebrities alike have accepted the challenge, including NBA icons Metta World Peace, Rasheed Wallace, Damian Lillard, Dwyane Wade, and Iman Shumpert.

This wasn't World Peace's first foray into the rap arena -- he released an album in 2006 called "My World," which featured notable guests P. Diddy and Juvenile.

Although Wallace doesn't have an album to his name, he was known around the league as a pretty good lyricist. Here's a video of him flawlessly reciting Raekwon's "Verbal Intercourse" before a Piston's game.
Wallace and World Peace's verses go hard, but they don't compare to the straight fire that 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard laid down.

That's what the kids call "bars." Check out Lillard's SoundCloud page for some of his other raps.
As for Wade's verse... uh... it wasn't the greatest. But at least he challenged his Banana Boat crew to spit a strong 16 of their own. Hopefully, Carmelo Anthony and Lebron James will take him up on the challenge with better verses.

Later, Wade tried to redeem himself with a second attempt.

This morning, newly crowned NBA champion Shumpert posted a very strong 16 to challenge Lillard for the "best rapper in the NBA" title. The tempo changes and metaphors are ill.
