Forget the standard holiday tournament or the simple, but intriguing, showcase. What the ARS Rescue Rooter National Hoopfest has in store this season is in a league of its own and is as unique as it is expected to be competitive.

For FloHoops, this legendary series starts Saturday at Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas, with a quadruple-header that will mix some of the top national programs against some of the area's best teams. And if you think the concept is great, so is the cause. 

All proceeds from the event go to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Let's take a look at the matchups for this series that will also include stops in Memphis, Tennessee, on January 6-7 and Tampa, Florida, on January 20-21.

SUNRISE CHRISTIAN (KS) vs. CREATING YOUNG MINDS (TX) -- 2:30 PM 

Making its second appearance on FloHoops this season after going 2-1 in the Oglethorpe, Inc., Tournament of Champions, Sunrise Christian Academy will bring its talented and international-filled roster to Texas. What makes this squad special is its diversity, and it will do all it can to keep the momentum. However, it will be coming off a big road game at Vermont Academy on Friday, so there might be some tired legs. Still, it should not be a problem against last-minute addition Creating Young Minds, which replaced Grand Prairie in the event. 

WHITNEY YOUNG (IL) vs. DESOTO (TX) -- 4 PM

The event really turns it up a notch with this one. Better yet, expect some drama. Whitney Young enters at 2-2, including a 2-1 mark and third-place finish at the Gonzaga DC Classic after beating an incredibly talented Archbishop Molloy (NY). So the capability to knock off a good team is there behind Lucas Williamson and company, and Whitney Young will need to be if it wants to get past defending Texas 6A champion DeSoto. The Eagles are already 9-2 this season and to say they are battle tested so far would be an understatement. With two overtime wins, several other single-digit games, and five played on neutral courts, Desoto has the experience to knock off a program known to produce NBA talent in the past.

HUNTINGTON PREP (WV) vs. LANCASTER (TX) -- 5:30 PM

A preseason top 25 team, Huntington Prep has not had the most ideal start to the year, dropping two of its first seven games to Wesley Christian (KY) and then Gray Collegiate (SC) at Bojangles' Bash. Still, this team can fill it up as well as any team in the country. With so many offensive weapons such as Chase Johnson and Keldon Johnson, Huntington Prep has scored no less than 73 points and dropped 1,123 in its last tune-up against Mountain Mission on Tuesday. On the other hand, Lancaster, the defending 5A champion, is looking to regroup following a 13-point home loss to South Garland.

No. 17 SIMEON (IL) vs. HIGHLAND PARK (TX) -- 7 PM

Knocking off nationally ranked Gonzaga (DC) to open the 2016-17 campaign put Simeon on the radar, and it continues to climb up the polls with each big win. Led by senior Evan Gilyard and juniors Kezo Brown and Talen Horton-Tucker, this team continues to get better. It will get a big test from Highland Park, which is 8-4 to start the season. The host is fearless and will ride a huge crowd to give it a boost.
