Following a whirlwind week, which featured Porter winning the Gatorade Player of the Year and requesting a release from his letter of intent at Washington, the 2017 Flo40 No. 1 player will return to Columbia, Missouri, where he started his high school career, and join the Tigers next season.
Missouri head coach Cuonzo Martin hired Porter's father, Michael Porter Sr., as an assistant coach on Thursday. Porter Sr. spent the 2016-17 campaign as an assistant coach at Washington under Lorenzo Romar, who was fired by the Huskies on March 15.
