No. 7 Bishop Montgomery Seals Best-In-California Status With CIF Title
Bishop Montgomery capped off an impressive season with a win over Woodcreek for the CIF Open Division state title.
Tucked beneath the sheets lied the proof. The rest was comfortably on the pillow. Seventh-ranked Bishop Montgomery (CA) can take all the time it needs to relax after a Saturday night performance at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center that solidified its stance as the best team in California this season.

Controlling the CIF Open Division state championship game over Woodcreek (CA) 74-67 was not all that did it. It was merely an exclamation point to an incredible body of work, including a closing stretch for the ages.
Having seniors Ethan Thompson and Jordan Schakel go off for big-time games in their final outing was icing on the cake, too.
So what if the Knights don't boast the size that other squads in the state have? They know how to beat them. They took down powers Sierra Canyon, Mater Dei, and Chino Hills this month before the title game.
Then, despite Flo40 big man Jordan Brown posting 35 points and 17 rebounds in the comeback attempt, Thompson exploded for 17 of his 26 points in the second half while Schakel added 20 to give Bishop Montgomery its second state title in four years.
So say what you want about the star power in California, there was no better team than the 31-2 Knights.
