KU's International Star Sviatloslav Mykhailiuk Primed For Italy Success
Kansas senior wing Sviatloslav Mykhailiuk will join the Jayhawks in Italy after leading the 2017 U20 European Championship in scoring this summer.
Whether it's the time difference, some rules changes, or the new ball, there's no doubt Kansas will have to make some minor adjustments when the Jayhawks hits the hardwood for the first time this week in Italy. That applies to everyone except senior wing Sviatloslav Mykhailiuk.
While the Jayhawks spent the summer at home preparing for their four-game foreign tour, which will be live and archived on FloHoops, Mykhailiuk has been playing at a high level abroad.
Representing his home country of Ukraine, the 6-foot-8 wing led all scorers at the 2017 U20 European Championship in Crete, Greece, at 20.4 points. He poured in 20 or more points three times in seven contests, including dropping 26 against Latvia on July 16; he averaged 6.4 rebounds per game to boot.
Mykhailiuk was already expected to play a major role on this KU team, and his impact could be immediate in games in Rome and Milan from August 2-6.
