The CAA has announced its women’s basketball weekly awards following the first weekend of conference play during the 2022-23 season. North Carolina A&T graduate center Jazmin Harris earned CAA Player of the Week honors, and Drexel freshman guard Grace O’Neill collected CAA Rookie of the Week accolades after helping their respective teams to 2-0 starts in league play.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK 

Jazmin Harris, North Carolina A&T

Graduate | Center | McLeansville, N.C. / Eastern Guilford HS 

Harris averaged 18.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game, leading North Carolina A&T to a 2-0 start in CAA play in the program’s first two conference contests. The graduate center shot 68.2 percent (15-22) from the floor and posted back-to-back double-doubles, extending her double-double streak to three games. In the Aggies CAA debut, Harris scored a game-high 18 points on 63.6 percent shooting (7-11) with 10 rebounds and four blocks to lead North Carolina A&T to the program’s first CAA victory with a 67-50 win over Elon. On Sunday, Harris paced the Aggies with 18 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 8-of-11 (72.7%) from the floor in a 66-58 win over Charleston.  

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 

Grace O’Neill, Drexel

Freshman | Guard | West Chester, Pa. / Archbishop Carroll  

O’Neill contributed 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, shooting 58.8 percent (10-17) from the floor in a 2-0 week for the Dragons. Against Towson, she posted a career-best 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, with six rebounds and two assists, leading Drexel to a 75-67 victory. O’Neill added seven points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal against UNCW on Friday as the Dragons won their CAA opener for the third straight season.
