Charleston Men's Basketball Ranked 18th In Both National Polls

The Charleston men's basketball team held at No. 18 in the Associated Press Top 25 College Basketball Poll on Monday, while the Cougars matched that ranking by moving up three spots in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The AP ranking is the fourth consecutive poll with Charleston in the top 25 and third consecutive appearance in the coaches poll.

Charleston is 21-1 (9-0 in the CAA) and ran the nation’s best winning streak to 20 games with victories last week over William & Mary at home and on the road against Monmouth and Northeastern.

The Cougars’ total wins (21), winning percentage (.955), and winning streak (20) lead the nation.

Charleston was ranked in the top 15 by 10 AP voters, with a highest ranking of No. 11 by ESPN’s Dick Vitale. Additionally, 59-of-62 voters included Charleston on their ballots.

The Cougars are 6-1 this year against last season’s NCAA Tournament field and 4-0 vs. defending conference champions. Charleston has defeated the CAA (Delaware), ACC (Virginia Tech), A10 (Richmond), and SoCon’s (Chattanooga) automatic qualifiers from 2022.
