The CAA's head coaches voted Charleston to be the preseason contender to repeat as the men's basketball champion, with Drexel's Amari Williams being named the conference's Preseason Player of the Year.

The Cougars earned 10 of 14 first-place votes and UNCW, Drexel, Hofstra, and Delaware rounded out the top five vote-getters.

Charleston was ranked as high as No. 18 in the AP Top 25 last season, and accomplished a league-record 31 wins in 2022-23.

Williams, along with Ante Brzovic and Reyne Smith of Charleston, Tyler Thomas of Hofstra, Jyáre Davis of Delaware, and Charles Thompson of Towson, were all named to the All-CAA teams.
