College of Charleston Men’s basketball (11-3) secured the No. 1 seed in the CAA Men’s Basketball Rankings following their 65-57 win over William and Mary on Feb.19. The Cougars are now on a five game winning streak with just four regular season games remaining.

Charleston has been gaining momentum throughout the month of February only taking one loss since Feb.1 vs. UNCW. The five game win streak by the cougars edges them to the No. 1 seed over UNCW (10-4) who is tied with Drexel (Drexel) at the No. 2 spot.

This run by the Cougars comes at a pivotal time with the regular season ending and teams beginning to prepare for the 2024 CAA Men’s Championship scheduled for March. 12

Last Year, Charleston won the 2023 CAA Men's Basketball Championship following a record winning season finishing 31-4. The Cougars beat UNCW 63-58 in the championship game to earn their second CAA title in school history. This is only head coach Pat Kelsey's third season with the program and the shift to a winning culture is becoming evident.

When Is The 2024 CAA Men’s Basketball Tournament

The CAA men’s basketball regular season will conclude on Saturday, March 2 and set the seeding for the 2024 CAA Men's Basketball Championship. The tournament will begin with round one on Friday, March 8 and the championship game taking place on Tuesday, March 12.

When Does The 2024 NCAA Tournament Start?

The tournament will begin with Selection Sunday on March 17, followed by the First Four on March 19-20.

After the opening round is complete, the field will be set with the top 64 teams and the first round will start on March 21-22.

What Is Selection Sunday?

Selection Sunday is the day the NCAA committee releases the full tournament bracket initial seeding of all 68 teams.

Thirty-two teams will automatically qualify for the tournament by winning their conference tournament.

That leaves 36 other teams fighting for an at-large bid from the selection committee, which is considered through multiple stats and rankings to determine who receives the at-large bid.
