Notre Dame lacrosse took the top spot in the upcoming NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship, and after a rigorous season will someone upset the Fighting Irish or will the defending champions make it back-to-back trophies. The Irish lost a single game this season, to Georgetown, way back in the beginning of the season. 

The Hoyas defeated Notre Dame, 10-11 in overtime, in September. Georgetown, in turn, only lost three games this season, including a late-April defeat at the hands of Denver. 

The Pioneers won the championship in 2015.

Notre Dame will be matched against the winner of the opening-round game between UAlbany and Sacred Heart. 

Georgetown will play Penn State and Denver is matched against Michigan in the first round.
