Expectations are high again in Hickory as Lenoir-Rhyne opens the 2025–26 season as the South Atlantic Conference favorite. The Bears earned the top spot in the preseason coaches’ poll after a 29-6 campaign that included SAC Tournament and Southeast Region titles.

Head coach Brent Owen returns for his second year after capturing SAC Coach of the Year honors in his debut. His team’s 20 league wins last season set a program record, a mark that helped propel LR to its first Elite Eight appearance in two decades.

Anchoring the Bears inside is preseason All-Conference selection Conrad Luczynski, who finished among the league’s leaders in field-goal percentage while averaging 12 points and seven rebounds. His steady presence gives Lenoir-Rhyne one of the conference’s most efficient frontcourts.

Joining Luczynski is Player to Watch Julian Dozier, part of a veteran core eager to defend the program’s championship standard and extend its winning tradition.
