As conference play continues for the teams in the men's and women's divisions, the time to start creating space to secure a seat in the conference tournament starts now. 

As UNCW tops the standings in the men's division, Charleston keeps the top seat in the women's side of play. 

With key matchups on the horizon, there is a lot to discuss from how the previous week of play from Jan 26- 31 changed how the CAA continues play.

Men’s Basketball

UNCW continued to set the pace in the CAA as conference play moved into February, holding sole possession of first place with Charleston remaining close behind. Stony Brook and Drexel continued to strengthen their positions in the upper half of the standings, while a tightly packed middle tier ensured little separation across much of the league as postseason positioning comes into sharper focus.

Comfortable creating his own shot and drawing defensive attention, the graduate guard consistently generated scoring opportunities while maintaining efficiency. His ability to sustain offensive pressure has been critical in keeping Campbell competitive against conference opponents.

Jlynn Counter, Charleston (Co-CAA Player of the Week)

Counter continued to anchor Charleston’s backcourt with a blend of scoring and playmaking that reflects his importance to the Cougars’ system. Acting as both initiator and finisher, he dictated tempo and made timely decisions in key moments. His steady leadership remains a driving force behind Charleston’s push near the top of the standings.

Andrej Shoshkikj, Stony Brook (CAA Rookie of the Week)

Shoshkikj’s emergence has added another dimension to Stony Brook’s lineup. The freshman guard has shown poise beyond his experience level, contributing as a scorer, distributor and defender. His growing role has coincided with the Seawolves’ climb into the conference’s upper tier, providing valuable flexibility in both transition and half-court sets.
