Kobe Bryant dropping out of Olympic contention has opened the door for some of the younger players.
USAB today announced the 30 finalists for the United States Olympic Basketball Team to represent at the Rio Olympics 2016. Headlining the list are Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, and Chris Paul. All Team USA alumni. What's amazing about this list is the depth at the guard position. You have great point guards in Mike Conley, Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving and John Wall. Also, the shooting guards are not lacking talent with Bradley Beal, Klay Thompson and Jimmy Butler. Narrowing this list down to 12 is no easy task.
That task will have to be completed by head coach Mike Krzyzewski with assistants Jim Boeheim, Tom Thibodeau and Monty Williams. You can check the full list of finalists below.
