The 2016 Dick's National Championship Field Announced
The field has been set for the Dick's Sporting Goods National Championship tournament. The boys side of the tournament features No. 2 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA), No. 3 Montverde Prep (Montverde, FL), No. 8 Findlay Prep (Henderson, NV), No. 10 St. Benedicts Prep (Newark NJ), No. 12 La Lumiere (LaPort, IN), No. 14 Providence Day (Charlotte, NC), Miller Grove (Lithonia, GA), and Wasatch Academy (Mount Pleasant, UT).

The field includes top-ranked teams in the FloHoops 25 including on-the-bubble Miller Grove and Wasatch Academy. Both bubble teams are regarded in the USA Today Super 25 (ranked 17 and 19 respectively). Due to state association rules, top-ranked Chino Hills (CA) and No. 4 Atascocita (Humble, TX) are unable to compete in the National Championship tournament.

The first second rounds will be played at Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.) on March 31 will be on ESPNU. St. Benedict’s will play La Lumiere at noon EST, Oak Hill will play Wasatch at 2 pm, Montverde will play Providence Day at 4 pm, and Findlay Prep will play Miller Grove at 6 pm.

On April 1 the boys semifinals will be on ESPN2 and will pit the St. Benedict’s-La Lumiere winner against the Montverde-Providence Day winner. The 5 pm semifinal will feature the winner of Findlay Prep-Miller Grove vs. the Oak Hill-Wasatch winner.

The championship will be played on ESPN at noon on April 2, 2016, at Madison Square Garden. If the top two seeds prevail, there’s an opportunity for an Oak Hill vs. Montverde matchup for the third consecutive season at the tournament. Could this be the year Oak Hill Head Coach Steve Smith will win a national title?

The girls field includes Riverdale Baptist (Upper Marlboro, Md.), Seton Catholic (Chandler, Ariz.), Ribault (Jacksonville, Fla.) and St. Francis (Alpharetta, Ga.).

Riverdale Baptist, a former DICK’S champion and the 2016 National Association of Christian Athletes champion, will play St. Francis, the Georgia Class A champion, at 11 am on April 1, 2016, on ESPNU. The other girls semifinal, between Arizona Division II state champion Seton Catholic and Florida 5A champion Ribault, will be at 1 pm on ESPNU. The girls championship, also from Madison Square Garden on April 2, will be on at 10 am on ESPN2.
