Day 2 of the Nike Peach Invitational featured upsets of two favorite teams to win the tournament.
Peach Invitational pool play ended the way it started, with minor upsets.
After pool play, each team was placed in the elimination bracket based on their round robin position. Pool A finished with Southern Stampede at 3-0 followed by Mac Irvin Fire, Team Griffin and Team United. Pool B had New York Lightning on top with an undefeated record followed by the Oakland Soldiers, The Family and We All Can Go. Pool C had Boo Williams with a perfect pool record followed by Team Portis Wings, Elfrid Payton Elite, and All Ohio Red. Pool D comprised of a 2-1 Georgia Stars on top followed by Seattle Rotary, Alabama Challenge, and RM5 Elite.
Most of the favorites won their opening elimination game except for two. Seattle Rotary lost a tough one against Team Griffin. The game came down to the closing seconds as Team Griffin pulled away with a 69-67 victory. The other, and biggest of the day was undefeated NY Lightning falling to All Ohio Red. The Lightning looked to be one of the favorites to win the Peach Invitational but fell after strong pool play.
After one round of elimination play, the quarterfinals are set. The day opens with Team Griffin vs. Boo Williams on Court 1 and Alabama Challenge vs. All Ohio Read on Court 2. Both games tip-off at 12pm EST. Following at 1:30pm will be Southern Stampede vs Oakland Soldiers on Court 2 and Georgia Stars vs. The Family.
