Alabama's Massive Rise To Recruiting Stardom
A list of adjectives doesn't do the start of the early signing period any justice. It was one for the record books, and it will go down as the biggest commitment week for the 2017 class without a doubt. Of course, there was plenty to follow before, during, and after National Signing Day, but a prominent list of commitments throughout the week stole the show.

Flo40 Commits:

No. 8 Gary Trent, Jr. -- Duke
No. 11 Troy Brown -- Oregon
No. 13 Collin Sexton -- Alabama
No. 15 PJ Washington -- Kentucky
No. 18 Nick Richards -- Kentucky
No. 19 Kris Wilkes -- UCLA
No. 29 John Petty -- Alabama
No. 40 Daejon Davis -- Washington

The Big Winner: Alabama. By average rankings, and perhaps sheer notoriety, it would be easy to give this to Kentucky. Head coach John Calipari and his staff finally got on the board for this class with two game-changing big men and then picked up guard Shai Alexander on Monday. However, it has become standard for the Wildcats to land one of the nation's top prospects and overall classes. It is not the norm for Alabama. So if a strong start landing Herb Jones, Alex Reese, and Galin Smith wasn't enough, Crimson Tide head coach Avery Johnson took it yet another level in signing Flo40 guards Collin Sexton and John Petty. It is remarkable what Johnson is doing in Tuscaloosa and getting a program-altering backcourt seems like it is foreshadowing for what might be in store in the years to come.

It's hard to argue against any of the programs that secured a ranked prospect, but Alabama is making a statement that can be heard loud and clear across the country.
