The first month of the live-event season is done, over, finished, completed, and any other adjective that applies to an end. What a way to start it, too.

There were high-flying dunks.

CHRIS VONTOURE SPARTAN CLASSIC

When: December 8-10 | Where: Concord, California

Notable Teams: De La Salle, Fairfield, Serra, St. Patrick-St. Vincent, Clayton, St. Joseph Notre Dame, Regis Jesuit, James Logan

Overview: A new name but the same game. Some of the Bay Area's top teams will duke it out once again in a tournament to see who will be crowned the best.

AMERICAN FAMILY INSURANCE HOOPHALL WEST

When: December 9-10 | Where: Scottsdale, Arizona

Notable Teams: La Lumiere (IN), Chino Hils (CA), Mater Dei (CA), Christ The King (NY), Bishop Gorman (NV), Hillcrest Prep (AZ)

Overview: A truly one-of-a-kind showcase that features so many stars and ranked squads. The best part? It's a prime opportunity to see how the greats from across the country do their thing.

BREAKDOWN USA TIP-OFF CLASSIC

When: December 10 | Where: Hopkins, Minnesota

Notable Teams: Apple Valley, Maple Grove, Cretin-Durham Hall, DeLaSalle, Champlin Park

Overview: Hands down, this is the premier event for Minnesota prep basketball. The only thing left is to watch just how good it is this year while getting out of the cold.

CULLIGAN CITY OF PALMS CLASSIC

When: December 16-21 | Where: Fort Meyers, Florida

Notable Teams: Montverde Academy (FL), Neumann-Goretti (PA), Pebblebrook (GA), Memphis East (TN), The Patrick School (NJ), Westtown School (PA), Hillcrest Prep (AZ), Putnam Science Academy (CT), Pace Academy (GA), Tampa Catholic (FL)

Overview: This is by far the largest and most star-studded event of the month. If you like top teams, they will be there. If you like the best prospects, they will be there, too. From tournaments to showcases to dunk contests, the amount of talent in this stacked event will make for an unforgettable six days in Fort Myers.

ARS RESCUE ROOTER NATIONAL HOOPFEST

When: December 17 | Where: Dallas, Texas

Notable Teams: Huntington Prep (WV), Simeon (IL), Whitney Young (IL), Sunrise Christian (KS)

Overview: It might be much smaller in nature by comparison to tournaments like City of Palms, but it will still pack the same punch. The one-day showcase will be over quickly -- so don't blink. You'll miss something remarkable in part one of this installment.

NIKE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS (GIRLS)

When: December 18-22 | Where: Phoenix, Arizona

Overview: Looking for girls prep basketball? There is literally no better event than this. None. This is where tomorrow's top women's college hoops stars can be seen before they reach the big stage.

CHICK-FIL-A CLASSIC

When: December 20-23 | Where: Columbia, South Carolina

Notable Teams: La Lumiere (IN), Wheeler (GA), Providence Day (NC), Gray Collegiate (SC), Hamilton Heights Christian (TN), Spartanburg Day (SC)

Overview: Some familiar faces will return to FloHoops, while some new teams get in on the action in a loaded tournament just before the holidays. There is no need to hide it: This event is loaded and should be one of the best gifts of all.

LES SCHWAB INVITATIONAL

When: December 27-30 | Where: Hillsboro, Oregon

Notable Teams: Sierra Canyon (CA), Nathan Hale (WA), Gonzaga (WA), Garfield (WA)

Overview: A showdown between the No. 1 prospects in 2017 and 2018 is a possibility. That's right, Michael Porter Jr. (Nathan Hale) and Marvin Bagley (Sierra Canyon) will be here with other top teams from Washington and a host of great in-state talent.
