SPRINGFIELD, MA -- It's time to take a trip down memory lane, to where it all began, to where tomorrow's stars will be the center of attention. The birthplace of basketball is set to host the nation's top-flight high school and prep teams this week at the Spalding Hoophall Classic.

Over five days, from January 12-16 at Springfield College's Blake Arena, right near the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, FloHoops will broadcast 24 games featuring an elite blend of local and national boys and girls talent who will undoubtedly be household names for years to come.

So just when you thought 2016 was good, the biggest event of the new year is bringing even more intense action to an already crazy season.

Ranked teams such as No. 4 Montverde Academy (FL), No. 5 IMG Academy (FL), No. 13 St. Anthony (NJ), No. 16 DeMatha Catholic (MD), No. 20 Wasatch Academy (UT), and No. 24 Greensboro Day School (NC) will all be featured live, while many of the country's best players will torch the nets and rock the rims at Springfield College.

IMG Academy (FL) floor general and 2017 Flo40 No. 5 Trevon Duval will be there. So will his high-flying teammates, including big man and dunk king Emmitt Williams.

Then, of course, there is RJ Barrett, who has solidified his status as the top sophomore in the country.

Fellow sophomore Charles Bassey from St. Anthony (TX) will make his case for the top spot in 2019, too.

What makes this event special is not just star power but also the depth of it. From coast to coast, the list is as long as it is good.

A brand new year deserves brand new rankings, but there is nothing too different about the first top 25 in 2018. The same powerhouses continued to take care of business this past week, still hold down the top spots, and will remain to be the teams to beat for the foreseeable future.
