In a major offseason move, defending DICK's Nationals champion La Lumiere School (IN) has announced that Texas shooting guard Charles Smith IV will be joining its team for next season.

Smith IV, a native of Houston, will look to add to La Lumiere's championship culture after helping lead Westbury Christian (Texas) to its fifth straight TAPPS 5A state championship this past season as a sophomore.
"Charles has a chance to be one of the elite perimeter players in the 2019 class. He's an explosive athlete who has the ability to score on all three levels on a consistent basis," first-year Lakers head coach Pat Holmes told FloHoops.
La Lumiere got a chance to take a look at its future prospect while scouting Westbury Christian for a matchup at Hoophall West.
"We loved the energy he played with on both offense and defense," Holmes said. "We also loved the fact that he was a great teammate who cared more about winning than his own personal stats."
Though La Lumiere dominated with a 91-44 victory over Westbury Christian, Smith IV was the only WCHS player to put up double-figures on the nation's top squad with 12 points.
"Charles' versatility, high basketball IQ, and intense work ethic is what really excited us as a coaching staff," Holmes said. "In addition to his on-court success, Charles is also a great student and kid who will be a great addition to the La Lu family."
