As the hoops world sat on the edge of its seat for the announcement it was hoping for since the spring, the ultimate plan was being finalized. One of the best high school prospects in the country just had to wait for the right moment to share it.

The rumors had been swirling for months. Would Jontay Porter reclassify to play at Missouri in 2017-18?

That answer is officially yes.

A 6-foot-10 power forward and the No. 9-ranked prospect for 2018, Porter committed to the Tigers on May 22 and will forgo his senior high school season to join his brother, 2017 Flo40 No. 1 Michael Porter Jr., and father, assistant coach Michael Porter Sr., in Columbia, MO, next year.

Jontay Porter, who helped Nathan Hale (WA) to an undefeated 29-0 record this past high school season, will join an incredible class at Missouri that features Porter Jr., Flo40 big man Jeremiah Tilmon, point guards Blake Harris and C.J. Roberts, and graduate transfer Kassius Robertson.

Playing for MOKAN Elite (KS) during the Nike EYBL and Nike Peach Jam, Porter was a one-man wrecking crew who stuffed the stat sheet in averaging 18.1 points, 12.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and 2.6 blocks.

He also found his sweet spot from 3-point range at the top of the key and knocked down 42 percent from behind the arc during the regular season.

Porter has a college-ready game right now, and the Missouri faithful can finally rejoice in landing the final piece it wanted all along.
