How Flo40 Bol Bol's Transfer Changes The Game For Findlay Prep
Bol Bol, one of the top prep prospects in the country, has transferred from Mater Dei (CA) to Findlay Prep (NV) for the 2017-18 season.
It has not been a good week for No. 3 Mater Dei (CA).
First, the Monarchs lost 2019 Flo40 No. 34 P.J. Fuller when the transfer guard moved back to Seattle. Then, head coach Gary McKnight confirmed to the Los Angeles Times late Friday night that superstar big man and 2018 Flo40 No. 4 Bol Bol has withdrawn from the school and enrolled at No. 8 Findlay Prep (NV).
Fuller’s new destination will be announced soon, and both moves were made for family reasons, according to reports.

While it’s obvious this stings for Mater Dei and its CIA Open Division championship hopes, it’s time to focus what this means for Findlay Prep and head coach Paul Washington Sr.
Bol, the 7-foot-2 son of former NBA center Manute Bol, is a transcendent talent and will decide between Oregon and Kentucky soon. Here are three reasons why his transfer is massive for the Pilots as they look to get back to DICK’s Nationals.
STAR POWER
After losing McDonald’s All American forward PJ Washington (Kentucky) and several other key pieces to graduation, the Pilots spent most of the offseason looking to reload for the 2017-18 season. Paul Washington Sr. did a great job in adding 7-foot-3 big man Connor Vanover and guards TJ Moss, Kyler Edwards, and Jamie Lewis to play alongside returners Reggie Chaney, Jack Schweitz, and Spencer Washington. This was going to be a strong team, but there was not a headlining star. The addition of Bol Bol changes everything and now gives the Pilots the type of player they can lean on to dominate in big games.
TWIN TOWERS
The Pilots now have 14-feet of height in the frontcourt. WITH JUST TWO PLAYERS. Having Vanover as a rim protector was already nice, but having Bol Bol back there as well is just insane. If someone is going to bring it inside, he better come hard or with something creative or it won’t get anywhere close to the rim. Add in the power of Reggie Chaney and this has the potential to be an incredibly dangerous defense.
MORE SHOOTING
It’s not often that a team adds a 7-footer and immediately become a better shooting team, but that’s exactly what Findlay Prep will have with Bol Bol. During the Nike EYBL regular season, not only did the big man shoot 65 percent from the field in posting 24 points per game, but he also shot 47 percent (24 for 51) from 3-point range. There’s a very good chance this Pilots team will be much better from beyond the arc than last season’s squad with the new pieces in place.
