January 31, 2020 – The California Commotion’s first National Pro Fastpitch roster continues to take shape with the signing of Xeana Kamalani Dung.

Dung (Waianae, Hawaii) is currently in her first season as a volunteer student assistant at the University of California, Berkeley. As a pitcher for the Cal Bears, Dung was an All-Pac-12 selection and All-Pacific-Region honoree after posting an earned run average of 2.32 in 2019.

Prior to her two seasons at Cal, Dung played at Fresno State. She was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Year and was a member of the All-MW First Team in 2017.

“Kama brings international experience to our pitching staff and has strong ties to California,” said head coach and assistant GM Kirk Walker. She competed at both Fresno State and Cal and continues to give back to the sport while working with the Cal program.”

In 2018, Dung was invited to join the Puerto Rican Women’s National Team and helped Puerto Rico win its first gold medal at the Central American Games in more than 20 years. This past summer, she helped the team to a bronze medal at the Pan-Am Games and a No. 4 world rank.

“I am excited and honored to be a part of the CA Commotion team and family,” said Dung. “I believe the Commotion has a solid foundation and goals, and believe Coach Kirk Walker and staff are putting together something special. I’m looking forward to being part of the team of passionate athletes and staff, people who love the sport and strive to build a successful winning culture.
