The Official 2019 Flo40 Rankings

Vernon Carey Jr. Holds New No. 1 Spot In The 2019 Flo40

A new school year is underway and there is a different top-ranked junior than everyone expected a few months ago.

No longer is R.J. Barrett the undisputed No. 1 in the 2019 Flo40. Since he reclassified and is the new king of 2018, the throne now belongs to Vernon Carey Jr.

A 6-foot-10 power forward who averaged 17.4 points and 6.2 rebounds in the Nike EYBL for Nike Team Florida (FL), Carey gets the No. 1 spot with his impressive combination of size, power, and skill that shined on the biggest stages this spring and summer.

In addition to Carey at the top, there were also some major changes to the top five. James Wiseman jumped ahead of Charles Bassey to No. 2. Point guard Cole Anthony climbed up to No. 4, and big man Matthew Hurt moved to No. 5.

There were also four newcomers -- No. 26 Jalen Lecque, No. 37 Zach Harvey, No. 38 Josh Nickelberry, and No. 39 Will Baker -- to this fresh set of rankings.

A lot more will certainly change over the next two seasons, but it’s time to start getting comfortable with Carey at the top of the list.
