ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — Some players love the big stage. Others shy away from it. On Friday night, Deandre Burnett sure showed which category he falls under.

Time and time again, no matter the score, time, or need, the Ole Miss starting point guard answered the call and poured in a career-high 41 points to help the Rebels beat Oral Roberts, 95-88, in overtime at the University of the Virgin Islands.

And of all the big shots, none hold the weight of his last 3-pointer in regulation.

With Ole Miss trailing 79-76 in the final minute, Burnett got the ball, and without hesitation let it fly before hitting nothing but net with 33.9 seconds remaining to force overtime.

To say Burnett, a Miami (FL) transfer, was hot would be an understatement. He went 12 for 19 from the field, including 9 of 12 from 3-point range, to lead Ole Miss (3-0) into the Paradise Jam semifinals against Saint Joseph’s (3-0) on Sunday. He also tallied four rebounds and four assists.

Terence Davis added 13 points, while Rasheed Brooks and Sebastian Saiz each chipped in 11 for the Rebels.
