No Time To Celebrate For No. 2 Sierra Canyon At Les Schwab Invitational

Hillsboro, Ore. — Ty Nichols wanted to celebrate with his team. Oh, he wanted to so bad. Yet, it wasn’t the time. There was no time. The rest of the Thursday night needed to be about sleep and gearing up for one of the biggest games of this young season.

What took place was still sweet, though, and Nichols made sure his squad knew it. No. 2 Sierra Canyon dropped No. 18 Garfield in the Les Schwab Invitational semifinals 85-81 by following a specific plan and riding its dominant frontcourt.

Cody Riley (2017 Flo40 No. 30) went for a beastly 32 points and 14 rebounds, while Marvin Bagley (2018 Flo40 No. 1) added 30 points and nine rebounds. Add in point guard’s Remy Martin 11 points and 11 assists and it was clear to see why the Trailblazers are one of the best teams in the country.

So while it was a great win for Sierra Canyon, it’s all back to business Friday in the finals against No. 8 Nathan Hale (WA).
