MEMPHIS, TN — To Alex Lomax, it wasn’t just a game. It was something much more. Despite his squad being ranked No. 10 in the nation, the Memphis East junior wanted to prove it could compete with any team. That point was made loud and clear Saturday night at the ARS Rescue Rooter National Hoopfest.

Lomax recorded nine points and six assists in the most anticipated game of the season. Most importantly, he dished out the pass that led to the Mustangs’ 75-73 upset over No. 2 Montverde Academy (FL) at Arlington High School.
