St. Benedict's (NJ) Stuns No. 5 Oak Hill For 2nd Top 25 Win This Week

St. Benedict's (NJ) Stuns No. 5 Oak Hill

UNION, NJ -- The fans came in hordes to watch national power No. 5 Oak Hill take on hometown St. Benedict's at Kean University's Harwood Arena on Saturday night. Among them was Oak Hill alumnus and current New York Knicks guard Brandon Jennings, who headed west of the Hudson in hopes of watching the Warriors continue their winning ways.

After the opening tip was followed by a commanding Matthue Cotton slam, it didn't take long for fans to realize that Oak Hill's eight-game win streak might be threatened. The Gray Bees were coming off a top 25 victory already this week and were hungry for more.

Led by poised freshman point guard Noah Farrakhan, St. Benedict's used a balanced attack to knock off Oak Hill 59-47. Bourama Sidibe (Syracuse signee) paced the Gray Bees with 13 points, and Cotton, a junior wing, added 10 points. Oak Hill, on the other hand, was clearly out of sync, often leaving the paint wide open when Kansas-bound center Billy Preston took to the bench.

While the numbers might not be stunning, the performance spoke for itself when both Farrakhan and Cotton picked up offers from Virginia Tech. FloHoops caught up with Farrakhan after the game.

With the win, St. Benedict's can only that its latest high-profile win is enough to sway the Dick's Nationals selection committee. The Gray Bees earned a spot in the prestigious event last season, only to see their run cut short by La Lumiere 60-59. This year's event runs from March 30 to April 1 at Christ the King High School in Middle Village, NY.

Oak Hill hits the PrimeTime Shootout versus Gill St. Bernard's on Sunday, February 12, at 2 PM. WATCH LIVE
