2018 Flo40 Guard Prentiss Hubb Is The Next Piece Of The Puzzle For Notre Dame

Prentiss Hubb: Notre Dame's Next Puzzle Piece

Building a basketball program is a lot like building a puzzle. Each piece must perfectly connect to those pieces around it in order to move forward succesfully. Consistency and efficiency in building this puzzle is the name of the game for Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey, and maintaining that quota season over season is not taken lightly in South Bend, IN.

Last week, the Irish picked up their first 2018 commitment from Flo40 No. 34 Prentiss Hubb, who should be a great fit to Notre Dame's puzzle in the years to come. Here's why:

1) He's a Floor General

Despite being listed as a wing, shooting guard, and point guard, Hubb will look to fill in for departing Irish point guard Matt Farrell. Why? Hubb is a full-fledged floor general. He can pass the ball, shoot, and take it to the rack. Hubb shows maturity on the floor and provides opportunities for his teammates before himself. During the 2016-2017 season, Hubb maintained a positive assist-to-turnover ratio while posting almost four assists per game as a shooting guard behind former Gonzaga (DC) point guard Chris Lykes.

2) He's Consistent

You can always count on Prentiss. Due to his ability to create opportunities and defensive efforts, Hubb opens the doors to several shots himself. You can see in the shot chart below via Krossover Recruit that Hubb can straight launch it from beyond the arc or finish in the lane, making him the perfect point guard for Notre Dame.

3) He's Effective

Hubb's secret sauce? He's a lefty, which makes him harder to guard for his right-handed counterparts. It turns out, Hubb is so hard to guard his shooting percentages in most areas actually improve when contested. Below is a shot chart of Hubb's shooting percentages from contested shots only.
