Marshall Collins: The Fearless General Of The Oakland Soldiers
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC — For years, Marshall Collins had wanted to be part of the Oakland Soldiers EYBL team. He just needed the opportunity and the patience paid off in a big-time way.
In the basement of the Riverview Park Activities Center on Sunday, Collins was greeted by his players with multiple water bottles and an eagerness to celebrate the 70-63 win over Team Takeover (DC). The Nike Peach Jam trophy is headed back to the Bay Area, and Collins is a big reason why.
The talent was obviously there. The only question was whether or not his squad would buy into a system and style implemented just prior to Session IV in Los Angeles when Collins took over.
Needless to say, the players responded to Collins better than anyone on the outside expected.
The Soldiers went 10-2 in their final 12 contests, including a 4-0 mark in LA and four straight wins to win the coveted championship.
Collins was fearless in his approach, and there is no doubt he enjoyed every moment of the celebration that followed.
