Michael Porter Jr. Carries Nathan Hale Over Oak Hill Academy At Spalding Hoophall Classic

SPRINGFIELD, MA — If there was any debate as to who the best high school best player in America is, it should end immediately. Michael Porter Jr. had already claimed the top spot over and over this season, but he solidified it Monday at the Spalding Hoophall Classic.

With all of the top teams and players in the country inside Blake Arena for the event’s final day, nobody shined quite like Porter as he dropped 37 points to lead No. 2 Nathan Hale (WA) in a clutch 80-77 win over No. 8 Oak Hill Academy (VA).

It was impressive, to say the least, and the Washington-bound senior continues to rise up on the biggest stage.

Porter got some help, too. Sophomore wing PJ Fuller had 17 points, including a ridiculous three-quarters-court buzzer-beater at the end of the third quarter, while brother Jontay Porter pitched in 13.

For the Warriors, Lindell Wigginton finished with 22 points, and Billy Preston notched 17 points and 16 rebounds. Ty-Shon Alexander and Matt Coleman each ended with 15 points.

It was a crazy game, one of the best of the entire high school season. And of all the talented players on the court at any time, nobody was as impressive as Porter.
