Sierra Canyon's Complete Gut-Check Week Ending At Spalding Hoophall Classic

Sierra Canyon's Complete Gut-Check Week

SPRINGFIELD, MA — At some point, later down the line, Ty Nichols will do more than take a deep breath and smile. He will likely have more words and maybe even a better understanding of what his Sierra Canyon (CA) squad had pulled off on Monday. It just wasn’t going to be immediately following the best week of any team in the country all season.

Finding a tougher road trip than what the now-No. 2 Trailblazers had will be next to impossible. So will the amount of guts it took to pull it off.

From home in California to Missouri for the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions to Massachusetts for the Spalding Hoophall Classic, the cross-country journey included four games in five days. All of them were victories. Three of them were against top 10 teams.

None of them were more impressive than Sierra Canyon’s second-half comeback to stun then-No. 1 La Lumiere 76-74.

Is Sierra Canyon the best team in the country? This past week certainly put it heavily in the discussion.
