Jemarl Baker: Kentucky’s Missing Sharpshooting Piece For Next Season

Kentucky Lands Missing Sharpshooting Piece

With the entire backcourt departing from a talented Elite Eight squad, it was no secret Kentucky was looking to add guards for next season. And to no surprise, the Wildcats already accomplished that in a big-time way with their latest recruiting class. It just got even better.

Enter Eleanor Roosevelt (CA) shooting guard Jemarl Baker.

At 6-foot-4, the former California commit is not only a huge pickup late in the process but also the missing piece in UK's incoming class -- a lethal shooter who can complement point guard Quade Green and slashers Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Hamidou Diallo.

It didn’t take long for Baker to make a decision, either. Only four short days passed between the time Kentucky offered and his commitment this week. Now, Wildcats head coach John Calipari has the fearless 3-point maker his squad needed to become a dangerous force once again.

Baker averaged over 17 points per game last season. Most importantly, he cashed 94 shots from behind the 3-point line.

Leave it to Kentucky to add another gem to an already stellar class. This one is as helpful as any.
