Duke’s Search For An Elite 2018 Point Guard Will Heat Up In July

Tre Jones or Darius Garland? Darius Garland or Tre Jones? While the prep hoops world debates who is the top point guard for 2018, Duke is looking to land at least one of them for next year’s class.
If recent history is any indicator, the chances one of the two elite floor generals signs with the Blue Devils are very high. After all, Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski and his staff landed 2017 Flo40 No. 3 Trevon Duval as part of a monster recruiting class for the 2017-18 campaign, and the program has signed at least one top-level point guard each of the last four years.
Although plans change, the 6-foot-3 Duval is only expected to be at Duke one season before entering the NBA Draft, so Coach K is out to secure either Jones (Flo40 No. 6) or Garland (Flo40 No. 8) to take the reins the following season.
Jones’ older brother, Tyus, played for Duke and won a national title in 2015. Adding the 2017 Nike EYBL MVP seems like an obviously perfect fit, but Garland is also a very intriguing option, too.
Regardless, the Blue Devils would be in great hands with either of them.
Landing a point guard is not the only position of need or interest, though. Duke is also after Flo40 No. 1 Marvin Bagley III, Flo40 No. 4 Cameron Reddish, and Flo40 No. 14 Emmitt Williams to create another dynamite class, which will make Peach Jam the place for the entire staff to be from July 12-16 in North Augusta, SC.
