Michael Devoe Makes Montverde Academy's Backcourt Scary Good

Imagine one of the nation’s best point guards driving and kicking to the No. 1 overall prospect in the prep game who then finds a wide-open shooter more than capable of knocking it down at a ridiculously high clip. Sound scary? That’s what the high school basketball world is about to see with Montverde Academy (FL) this season.

As if returning Flo40 No. 1 R.J. Barrett and No. 22 Andrew Nembhard to a squad looking to add another DICK’s Nationals banner wasn’t enough, the Eagles landing Michael Devoe easily makes one of the best backcourts around even more potent.

At 6-foot-3, Devoe is a smooth lefty who can score in bunches and is more than capable of running the show himself. He averaged 15.7 points per game on 47 percent shooting, including 42.1 percent from 3-point range, for Nike South Beach (FL) during the Nike EYBL, while also posting 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.

Devoe, a 2018 Georgia Tech commit, isn’t the only weapon added to this reloaded roster, but if Montverde Academy wants to win the title, he will have to prove to be a very valuable and reliable playmaker throughout the season.
