Down four points with under two minutes to play? No problem for No. 1 Memphis East (TN).

Sure, it wasn’t easy. It took an incredible final push to survive a scare from Oak Ridge (FL) in the quarterfinals of the 2017 Culligan City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, FL, on Thursday, but the Mustangs made it happen.

Senior point guard Alex Lomax spearheaded the charge to a 62-60 victory with two huge buckets before Flo40 junior center James Wiseman tipped in the final basket for the win.

It doesn’t always have to be pretty, and Memphis East kept its perfect season alive by going to another gear not possessed by many other teams in the country.
