After Gonzaga (DC) lost star guard Chris Lykes to graduation and its best returning player, Prentiss Hubb, to injury before the season, one would assume this could be a down year for the Eagles. Guess again.

The reigning Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) kings are back at it and appear poised to repeat.

Now ranked 11th in the country, Gonzaga made a national statement at the Spalding Hoophall Classic earlier this month by crushing Sacred Heart (CT) behind emerging stars Terrance Williams (26 points) and Myles Dread (25 points).

That was a tough challenge, for sure, and head coach Steve Turner deserves a ton of credit for his team's 17-1 start. It should also be a reminder for everyone to never sleep on Gonzaga, no matter what.
