FloHoops Top 25 High School Boys Basketball Rankings Countdown
No. 21: Althoff Catholic -- Belleville, Illinois
HEAD COACH: Greg Leib
2015-16 RECORD: 30-2 (Illinois 3A state champions)
KEY RETURNERS:
PG: Bryson Strong (2017
PG: C.J. Coldon (2017)
SG: Jordan Goodwin (2017, committed to Saint Louis)
SG: Edwyn Brown (2017)
SF: Dante Ray (2017)
PF: Jordyn Slaughter (2018)
TEAM PREVIEW:
Althoff Catholic comes off its state title-winning campaign with high hopes for a return trip to the championship game, where it blew out Lincoln Way West, 62-37. This season, Althoff Catholic will again be led by all-state shooting guard Jordan Goodwin, who averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds during his junior year. He will be joined by returning contributors Edwyn Brown, C.J. Coldon, Bryson Strong, and Jordyn Slaughter, among others. The Crusaders may not be a sexy pick with their lack of high-major talent, but they finished last season with only two losses and made it through the rugged 3A Illinois state playoffs. Although Althoff Catholic loses a key contributor in Tarkus Ferguson, the Crusaders return the majority of what was arguably the best team in the state last season.
