On The Move: The Four Key 2018 Flo40 Transfers
Aug 29, 2017
As the transfer list in high school hoops continues to grow, so do the expectations for some of the nation’s top teams to succeed. And while most of the attention is currently focused on where 2018 prospects might play college basketball, there are a few elite players ready to make an impact at a different school in their final prep seasons.
With No. 7 Jordan Brown and No. 15 Emmitt Williams recently trimming their recruiting lists, another notable aspect attached to their announcements is where each will play during the 2017-18 campaign.
Here are the four 2018 Flo40 prospects on the move this season (in order of the highlights above):
Jordan Brown
Flo40 Rank: 7New School: Prolific Prep (CA)
Former School: Woodcreek (CA)
Needing to the fill a massive void following the departure of 2017 Flo40 prospects Gary Trent Jr. (Duke) and Paul Scruggs (Xavier), Prolific Prep landed a cornerstone piece for the upcoming season in Brown, who averaged 26.3 points and 15.8 rebounds per game last year to guide Woodcreek to a 32-3 record. At 6-foot-10, the power forward can dominate on both ends and has a smooth shot from the outside that will be tough for any defense to stop.
Keldon Johnson
Flo40 Rank: 10New School: Oak Hill Academy (VA)
Former School: Huntington Prep (WV)
Replacing a stellar senior class is never easy, but Warriors head coach Steve Smith secured a future pro in Johnson to help keep the winning tradition going. In posting 20.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for Boo Williams (VA) during the Nike EYBL regular season, the 6-foot-6 wing proved he can take over games with his scoring and confirmed his spot as one of the best players in the country.
Emmitt Williams
Flo40 Rank: 15New School: Oak Ridge (FL)
Former School: IMG Academy (FL)
It would be a massive challenge to find a prospect on the prep scene who works harder than Williams. At 6-foot-8, he has next-level athleticism with an incredible motor and has the ability to post monster numbers on any given night. Dropping 17.6 points and 11.6 rebounds for E1T1 United (FL) in the Nike EYBL was just a preview for what Williams might do this season.
Anfernee Simons
Flo40 Rank: 37New School: IMG Academy (FL)
Former School: Edgewater (FL)
College: Louisville
Much like many of the top programs, IMG Academy was looking to reload this season, and the Ascenders got one the best bucket-getters in the 6-foot-4 combo guard. Simons is coming off a junior season in which he averaged 23.8 points per game, and there is no doubt he will help lead the offense while he climbs up the rankings this fall.
