The Providence Women’s Basketball team begins a new era with Erin Batth taking over the program as head coach. Batth, the first female Black head coach in program history, arrives from Michigan, where she served as an assistant coach for the Wolverines. 

After 17 years as an assistant for several high-profile programs, Batth finally is getting a shot as a head coach. 

She has work to do. 

The Friars haven't reached the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament since 1992. Last season, Providence went 13-19. Since going 19-16 in 2018-2019 and playing in its first postseason tournament since 2010, the program hasn’t won more than 13 games in a season. 

But it’s a new year and one that officially begins Nov. 7 against Hampton on FloHoops and the FloSports app. 

Providence’s nonconference slate also includes games against Penn State, Boston College and Baylor, which is at the West Palm Beach Classic. That event also will be streaming on FloHoops and the FloSports app.

When Is The BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament?

BIG EAST teams will compete to be the automatic qualifier for the 2024 NCAA Tournament beginning March 8 in Uncasville, Connecticut. The BIG EAST Tournament championship game is March 11. 

When Is The 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament?

Selection Sunday for the NCAA Women’s Tournament is March 17, 2024. The First Four will tip off March 20, with the Round of 64 beginning March 22.
