Michigan Tech enters 2025–26 as the GLIAC preseason favorite after winning last year’s regular-season title behind All-American guard Marcus Tomashek. Northern Michigan, Parkside and Grand Valley State fill out a tight top four, signaling a deep title race.

Tomashek is the league’s Preseason Player of the Year for the second straight season after averaging 23.2 points. First-team selections include GVSU’s Ethan Alderink and Jalen Charity, Northern Michigan’s Dylan Kuehl, and Parkside guard Josiah Palmer.

Lake Superior State, an NCAA Elite Eight team last season, sits fifth, followed by Ferris State and Wayne State in the middle tier. Saginaw Valley State, Purdue Northwest, Davenport and Roosevelt round out the poll with new coaches and large newcomer groups aiming to climb.

The season tips with No. 13 Michigan Tech at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic: the Huskies face No. 3 Dallas Baptist on Nov. 1 and No. 19 Lenoir-Rhyne on Nov. 2.
