Grand Valley State enters 2025–26 with expectations of a top-four finish after being voted fourth in the GLIAC preseason coaches’ poll. The Lakers bring back a core that includes two Preseason First Team selections in Ethan Alderink and Jalen Charity, both poised to drive another competitive season.

Charity averaged 11.5 points and four rebounds per game last year, earning All-Defensive Team honors for his consistency on both ends. Alderink, returning from injury, adds experience and scoring punch to an already balanced lineup.

Point guards Mason Docks and Trevor Smith Jr. provide veteran leadership in the backcourt, combining for 166 assists last season and ranking among the conference’s best in assist-to-turnover ratio.

With head coach Cornell Mann entering his fourth season and several transfers joining the mix, GVSU’s blend of experience and defense makes it a legitimate conference contender in 2025–26.
