The Division II women’s basketball tournament begins around the country on March 13 as teams pursue a 2026 NCAA national championship.

Leading the pack are the Grand Valley State Lakers, the defending national champions, who capped a 30-1 season and a 19-1 GLIAC season en route to first-round hosting duties this weekend.

The No. 2-ranked Lakers beat Ferris State to clinch a conference title.

Meanwhile, No. 1 Texas Woman’s Basketball won the Lone Star Conference tournament on March 8 with a 54-46 win over West Texas A&M.

Grand Valley State and Texas Woman’s are both the top teams in their regions — the Midwest and South Central — and will host first-round action.
