Last season ended with Washburn, Nova Southeastern, Gannon and Lander all firmly established among the top teams in Division II men's basketball.

Gannon ultimately won its first national championship with an 84-61 victory over Lander, which had defeated defending champion Nova Southeastern in the national semifinals. Washburn finished 31-2 after entering the NCAA Tournament with only one loss, although its season ended with a narrow opening-round defeat.

That finish helped shape the starting point for the new season. Washburn will begin the year as the No. 1 team in the 2026-27 FloCollege preseason rankings. Nova Southeastern is not far behind at No. 2, while reigning national champion Gannon, national runner-up Lander and Daemen round out a Top 5 filled with teams capable of making another national championship run.

The Top 10 also includes Dallas Baptist, Black Hills State, West Liberty, Walsh and Cal State East Bay.

Of course, the preseason rankings are only a snapshot. Once teams take the court, the results will undoubtedly shake-up the Top 25.
